World University Games - Players Wanted

Attention Coaches,

Tennis Canada is currently seeking University level athletes to represent Canada at the FISU World University Games in Kazan, Russia July 06–17, 2013.  In order to be eligible players must be enrolled full time at an accredited post secondary institution (students who graduated in spring 2012 are eligible).  The team will be made up of three males and three females who will compete in singles, doubles and mixed draws.  Please note that the team is self funded and athletes will be responsible for their own travel costs.

The FISU games is an international sporting and cultural festival which is staged every two years in a different city and which is second in importance only to the Olympic Games.  The Summer Universiade consists of 10 compulsory disciplines and up to 3 optional sports chosen by the host country.  The last games were in Shenzhen, China in 2011 and there were more than 10,622 participants.

If any of your current or former players may be interested in competing please have them contact Gail Novick at gnovick@tenniscanada.com and she will send them information on how to submit their name for consideration.  The deadline for the Letter of Interest is January 30, 2013.
