Tennis Canada Announces Partnership with PlaySight Technology
Tennis Canada is thrilled to announce the addition of PlaySight’s revolutionary all-in-one Smart Court tennis technology to its National Training Centre in Montreal and its National Junior Training Programs Toronto and Vancouver.
PlaySight’s Smart Court technology is a system of six cameras that are installed around a tennis court (making it ‘Smart’). 3D visual processing powers each Smart Court to provide real-time video and analytics, a new way to train and play, and interactive and engaging coaching tools. There are now approximately 300 Smart Courts around the world, from Roland Garros to Wimbledon to Harvard University to the USTA National Training Center, and now Tennis Canada.
Each Smart Court also automatically recognizes and classifies stroke types for easy video review, calls lines, and provides real-time audio and visual feedback. Smart Courts track all ball and player movement and Tennis Canada’s coaches and players will now have full access to an incredibly powerful coaching tool. PlaySight’s Smart Courts have been installed at the three Tennis Canada locations with the goals of helping coaches and players improve and to strengthen the overall development system. Tennis Canada is one of the first sites to have the new Smart Court camera configuration, which gives an HD view of the full court from all six cameras. In addition, four extra cameras have been installed on the side of each Smart Court, giving players and coaches’ additional angles to review their biomechanics, movement, point development, and on-court tactics and technique. Additionally, PlaySight offers live streaming services, enabling Tennis Canada fans, coaches, parents, and supporters to watch practices and matches from the SmartCourts remotely and in real time – through PlaySight.com or through the PlaySight Tennis App (available for both iOS and Android devices). Another goal of utilizing the Smart Court technology is to help instill the philosophy that every practice matters and create a culture of debriefing and improving each and every day. With PlaySight’s technology, you need to make every ball count. For those interested in learning more about the technology, here are links to find out more: 1.
